The Bamboo Society of Southern Africa (BambuSSA) came into being in 2018 through the efforts of visionary bamboo advocate Pieter Fourie who found strong kinship together with Kanji Yoshimura and Dimitar Dobrev for the tremendous potential for environmentally sustainable bamboo in Southern Africa to benefit all South Africans.
Many late night discussions and fine-tuning followed in consultation with our legal team about the the way forward, with the final result our official Non Profit Company status being awarded to the Bamboo Society of Southern Africa in September 2019. (NPC reg: 2019/473079/08)
In February 2020, Life-long Kzn resident expert bamboo farmer Guy Solomon who has several decades experience in growing various bamboo species in Kwazulu Natal joined us as Chairperson of the board to help launch BambuSSA and promote our objectives.
The Bamboo Society of Southern Africa NPC is a membership based NPO where we welcome all bamboo enthusiasts who wish to support our cause.
